In pursuit of #Familyhood, our vision of developing communities from schools being the center, school gardens play a huge role. #Familyhood is driven by two motto’s 1) The friends of School motto, which states every school shall have a functioning Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni and 2)The Mo’ Better Food motto, which states, “every school shall have a garden, a farmers market and a grocery.” store. ” The school garden has several benefits towards advancing a community towards #Familyhood. Although, school gardens differ in sizes and # of care takers, we like to view school gardens as a low-cost start up enterprises that is utilized to promote collaboration between a schools three main organizations: Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni Association (together, called #Familyhood) .Therefore, in addition to growing food inside the designated i.e. garden beds, #Familyhood should also include start plants, and gardening services in general to raise capital for these projects.
