MO’
BETTER FOOD™
“Connecting Black Farmers to the
Black Community”

Mission
“The
mission of Mo’ Better Food is to cultivate and sustain a long lasting
partnership between Black farmers and predominately Black communities. Our
mission is to increase markets for produce grown by Black farmers in urban
communities. Mo’ Better Food uses methods such as farmers markets, buyers clubs,
cooperative grocery stores, distributing to restaurants, corner stores,
churches, schools and home delivery in effort to develop a market supporting
Black farmers. We strive to educate each generation, young and old, about the
contributions African people have made in agriculture throughout past and
present history. We seek to build and secure a strong network of family owned
farms across the United States to stop the genetically modified food movement.
We seek to make sure that everyone will know exactly what is in the food they
eat. We strive to reverse land loss trends among African Americans by
establishing networks of Black landowners and Black farmers. By doing this, we
seek to create jobs that lead to ownership for low-income individuals in their
own communities by establishing cooperative grocery stores, credit unions, etc.
We seek to educate each generation, regardless of age, about the various careers
and professions available in the food industry. Overall, our mission is to make
sure the Black community is self-sufficient and free to express and appreciate
our collective history and culture.”
